21 Jump Street : Do I really want to watch another 80’s throw back anything?

21 Jump Street : Do I really want to watch another 80’s throw back anything?

I was not expecting much from 21 Jump Street.  I am a child of the 80’s and I did watch the original series on and off so after seeing the previews for this movie I was a bit unsure.  I am a not really a  fan of Channing Tatum and I never found Jonah Hill to be anything out of the ordinary but it is 21 Jump Street so here I go.

It stated off with lots of dumb comedy sketches, foul language and just off the wall comments for no apparent reasons.  However once the main story line of Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum) actually joining the 21 Jump Street program formed then my interest in the movie took a sharp turn.  Tatum and Hill as partners and as undercover high school students worked great together.  Their comical timing makes you laugh throughout the rest of the movie.  Watching the duo develop into the students that they were supposed to be and then into to students that they became ended up being a very refreshing story to see unfold.  As the pair infiltrate a high school and try to take down a drug ring their bumbling police abilities because quite apparent but yet still very funny to watch.  The officers work through their inexperience (or should I say work with their inexperience) and the difficulties of high school in attempt to make a bust.  You will keep watching until the end to see how it all unfolds.  I did, and left the theater in a good mood afterwards.
